Tuomikallio is an activity centre for 57 adults with intellectual disabilities, and part of the outpatient services of the City of Tampere. The days are full of various guided activities with 14 instructors. There are also physical fitness activities, complemented by various relaxation techniques such as the use of a physioacoustic chair and a sun swing chair. In addition, the Tuomikallio staff decided to purchase Cloudboots compression therapy boots, which were an immediate hit at the centre.
“We have been using the Cloudboots compression therapy boots at Tuomikallio for about a year now, and they’re still in daily use in the “sensory room.” It’s easy to take them from room to room, and the people in our other units have been interested in them too. Some of the people at the centre use wheelchairs, and the compression therapy boots are easy to use even in the chair. This is a great bonus, as it is often difficult to move from a wheelchair to a physioacoustic chair, for instance. And any kind of activity that improves circulation will help maintain functional capacity for wheelchair users in particular.
Depending on the customer’s wishes and their size, we adjust the Cloudboots to a moderate pressure and gradually increase it if necessary. If the person has short legs or is sitting in a chair, we often leave the top chamber inactive, making the boots more comfortable to wear.”

Cloudboots are very popular at the Tuomikallio activity centre. The picture shows Pyry at the Tuomikallio activity centre wearing Cloudboots.
